Having identified a number of dilemmas concerning the meaning and usage of the term „avantgarde” in the context of contemporary literature, the essay sets out to explore the possibility of avantgarde legacy, tradition and poetic approaches in contemporary Hungarian poetry. Th rough a brief analysis of eight collections published in 2022, the essay assesses how contemporary Hungarian poets attempt to provoke, engage and stimulate readers. Finally, the paper assesses whether interpreting these approaches as avantgarde could be a viable interpretive strategy.en
