My claim is that many of the films directed since the birth of the cinema, and featuring African American actors and actresses, and social issues in connection with the life of blacks are based on stereotypes deeply rooted in American culture. And these films are often contribute to the views and beliefs of the society, in this case the views of the society about African Americans. So in my opinion the audience is greatly influenced by the works of the directors that use stereotypical images in the depiction of blacks on the screen. Also I think that the films made by African American directors are more realistic, but the realistic portrayal of the life of African Americans and their problems like racism and crime related images are only strengthen the stereotypical images associated with blacks.
