A psychological reading of Janice Galloway's works

Abstract

This essay is mainly about Janice Galloway's first novel The Trick Is to Keep Breathing and the metaphoric connections between the anorexic protagonist and the fragmental layout of the text itself. Besides, it examines the psychological journey of the protagonist in this novel and in "Blood," a short story, just like the devices by which the nuances of emotions appearing in social relations are depicted, which is so characteristic of Galloway's writing.
