The Possibilities of Integration and Reintegration into Society in Marie de France's Lais

Abstract

The analysis of Marie de France's short stories is based on the reinterpretation of courtly love fro the perspective of gender studies, and concentrates on the power structure of feudal society, as the protagonists' attempts to (re)integrate into the society represented by the texts suggest their vulnerability in the face of power.
