Herbal remedies, notably in Traditional Medicine across regions like China, India, and Africa, employed for over 5,000 years, offer relief from various ailments such as infections, pain, and inflammation. These remedies derive active ingredients from different parts of plants, including seeds, berries, roots, leaves, and bark, each possessing distinct therapeutic properties. While historically utilized based on anecdotal evidence, modern investigations have elucidated the pharmacological effects of these phytoconstituents. Among these plants, notable examples like turmeric, garlic, ginger, black pepper, and others have garnered scientific recognition for their therapeutic attributes. Today, pharmaceutical drugs are synthesized from these active ingredients, underscoring the significance of plant-derived medicine in global healthcare.
