In my essay I make an attempt to explore how realistic Nolan’s Gotham is. Besides the imagery, I analyse the depiction of the characters as well. Assuming that the film invites the spectator to think over subtle dilemmas, I go into the questions raised by the film, such as how “rotten” is Gotham’s society; how autonomous are the people who populate the city; what are the different attitudes like toward Batman; and if there is causal relation between the creation of Batman and the appearance of the Joker. My essay contains findings of different fields of study. Besides my own ideas I employ the opinions and findings of film critics, qualified film experts and experts of various social sciences to support my arguments. I hope to implement my sources considering their applicability to the given subjects at hand.hu_HU
