Our study aimed to estimate annual primary care expenditure per capita in Hungary on one hand, and to investigate the association between primary care expenditure and general medical practice (GMPs) characteristics on the other. Our results showed substantial regional variation in health insurance expenditure. Relative education, geographical location, age of GPs and GMPs size were significant influencing factors of all GMPs variables. There is no significant association between vacant GMPs, types of settlement and health insurance spending in Hungary.
