Epileptic drug treatment during pregnancy is a complexed,requiring a close observation on these women prior conception, throughout pregnancy as well as in the postpartum period in which the newborns can be found to have malformations as a result of antiepileptic drug exposure in-utero. The aim is to acheive good seizure control in the mother with the a drug which has the best safety profile with least possible teratogenic effects.
