The Nigerian dairy sector is best characterized as having potential but limited forward movement. There is no question that the government must continue importing dairy products due to the growing disparity between supply and demand for these goods in Nigeria over time. The effective supply of the product will be significantly impacted if regulations that would encourage local dairy product production and also restrict the importation of this commodity are not put in place.
