dc.description.abstractTo overcome the challenges, risks and complications associated with dental implant surgery, surgical guides can be implemented in clinical practice. A surgical guide is a device which helps the clinician to place an implant correctly. The lack of self-contained and comprehensible overviews in the literature about the appropriate implementation of surgical guides and the question, whether to correctly employ surgical guides in a given clinical situation or not, can pose a problem to the clinician to make right and rapid decisions in implant surgery. The purpose of this review is to facilitate decisions for clinicians to utilize surgical guides in the right clinical situations and deciding for the most appropriate approach. For this purpose, aspects of dental implants, osseointegration, diagnostic imaging, planning considerations, problems in implant surgery, surgical techniques, flapless surgery, general features and types of surgical guides, fabrication methods, advantages, disadvantages, indications and the aspect of accuracy are discussed.hu_HU
