Dipeptidyl peptidase 4 (DPP-4) inhibitors are a relatively new class of oral anti-hyperglycaemic medication which enhance insulin secretion. They are considered to be a promising drug class that may meet the demands for efficacy in the treatment of type 2 diabetes
