Type 1 DM continues to be a disease that affects a good percentage of our population. The majority of patients are young children or teens. Before the invention of the first man-made insulin in 1978, dealing with diabetes took a large toll on patient’s lives. As technology and human innovation prevails, major advancements have taken place in the management of this chronic disease. Currently, they can decide between injectable insulin, insulin pumps, inhaled insulin, or the closed-loop method of insulin delivery which is also known as the artificial pancreas. The previous options are all portable, lightweight, and accurate methods of insulin delivery. They improve the lifestyle of patients and minimize hypoglycemic events and hyperglycemia.hu_HU
