This thesis explores NoSQL databases and their increasing popularity due to their flexibility, scalability, and ability to handle large amounts of structured and un-structured data. The thesis discusses the different types of NoSQL databases, their characteristics and features, as well as their advantages and disadvantages compared to traditional relational databases. It also demonstrates a practical implementation of a NoSQL database solution for a streaming services application using MongoDB and compares its performance to a relational MySQL implementation. The thesis provides insights into the benefits of using NoSQL databases as well as their potential weaknesses and where they might fall short. Overall, this thesis contributes to a better understanding of NoSQL databases and how to use them efficiently.
