This thesis explores NoSQL databases and their increasing popularity due to their flexibility, scalability, and ability to handle large amounts of structured and un-structured data. The thesis discusses the different types of NoSQL databases, their characteristics and features, as well as their advantages and disadvantages compared to traditional relational databases. It also demonstrates a practical implementation of a NoSQL database solution for a streaming services application using MongoDB and compares its performance to a relational MySQL implementation. The thesis provides insights into the benefits of using NoSQL databases as well as their potential weaknesses and where they might fall short.
