| dc.description.abstract | The emerging outbreak of Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), a novel pathogen that was first identified in Wuhan, China in December 2019. COVID‐19 has been declared as a global pandemic due to its high transmissibility and continuing increased mortality. The urgent demand of effective treatments to control the current pandemic raised intense attention internationally and are being investigated vigorously all around the world. This thesis outlines the basic virology, clinical presentation of SARS-CoV-2, and an emphasis on immunopathogenesis and the potential Immunotherapies of the COVID‐19. These include various immunomodulators which stimulate or suppress the dysregulated immune system, passive immunization which provide immediate immune protection from convalescent plasma, IVIG or SARS‐CoV‐2‐specific monoclonal antibodies, active immunization by vaccines of different platforms which stimulate the host body to produce sufficient immunity against the virus, and other prospective immunotherapeutic approach such as cell therapy. | hu_HU |
