Pharmacological Therapies for Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome: A Comprehensive Literature Review is the title of this in-depth article. Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome, also known as PCOS, is a common endocrine disorder that affects women of reproductive age. This condition can influence a woman's fertility as well as her overall quality of life. This thesis provides a comprehensive literature review on the pharmacological therapies that are currently available for the management of polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). The review focuses on the efficacy, safety, and impact of these therapies on the various phenotypes of the condition. The discussion starts off with an overview of the history of polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), including its definition, prevalence, pathophysiology, and clinical presentation. After that, it delves into the significance of pharmacological treatments in the management of the syndrome, as well as the reason for conducting the literature review in the first place. In the main body of the thesis, an overview of various pharmacological therapies is presented. These therapies include insulin sensitizers (such as metformin and thiazolidinediones), oral contraceptives (such as combined oral contraceptives and progestin-only pills), antiandrogens (such as spironolactone and flutamide), ovulation induction agents (such as clomiphene citrate and letrozole), inosi (GLP-1 receptor agonists and statins). In addition to that, the function of nutritional supplements will be discussed. Comparative analyses of the efficacy and safety of various pharmacological treatments for polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) are also included in this review. These analyses take into account a variety of PCOS phenotypes, adverse effects, contraindications, drug interactions, and combination therapies. In conclusion, the thesis provides a summary of the findings and emphasizes the significance of pharmacological treatments in the management of PCOS. It also highlights the necessity of individualized treatment approaches that are based on the requirements and preferences of individual patient.
