During the global pandemic of COVID-19, clinicians have observed an increased risk of Pulmonary Embolism (PE) in patients who are presently or were recently infected by the virus. The high risk of developing thrombosis has led to increased awareness and prevention efforts. Global research efforts during the pandemic have made a tremendous difference. However, further research is needed to fully comprehend the COVID-19-associated PE pathophysiology and develop more effective prevention and management strategies. In the meantime, it is important for healthcare providers to remain vigilant in identifying, risk stratifying, and treating patients at high risk for PE and implementing appropriate preventative measures.
