In our long-term polyfactorial experiment we examined the effect of agrotechnical factors on the yield of maize hybrids. We found that the fertilization, crop rotation and irrigation (in the dry years) has significant effect on the aggregate yield of maize according to our data. Since the annual precipitation is decreasing and far lower than the average of 50 years, drought resistant maize hybrids should be developed and together with the most appropriate agro-technology can ensure a more economic and environmentally sustainable maize production in Hungary.hu_HU
