Takotsubo cardiomyopathy mimics acute coronary syndrome and is associated with a reversible left ventricular apical ballooning and compensatory basal hyperkinesia in the absence of coronary artery stenosis. Takotsubo cardiomyopathy is transient, reversible and precipitated by an acute emotional or physical stress, therefore it is also known as ”stress cardiomyopathy” or ”broken heart syndrome”. The goal of this report was to investigate the clinical features of Takotsubo cardiomyopathy as well as to evaluate the incidence and presentation of this syndrome at the Department of Cardiology, University of Debrecen.
