Recent expansion in human obesity has been major challenges to human health worldwide. Physical exercise and appetite control are the effective ways to prevent from overweight; however, appetite control is difficult for obese patient due to their hedonic drive of eating. Currently approved drugs for food suppression such as phentermine, phentermine-topiramate, lorcaserin, naltrexone-bupropion, and liraglutide were developed according to the study of neuronal network. Even though there have been years of investigations and clinical trials to develop appetite suppressants, the best effective pharmacological treatments have not yet determined. In the future, development of safer and more effective drugs may be developed by combination of drugs, new drugs to new targeted peptides such as oxyntomodulin, setmelanotide, peptide tyrosine tyrosine (PYY3-36), and pramlintide. Also new area of drugs using gut microbiota may become mainstream of pharmacological treatment for appetite control.hu_HU
