This thesis takes a closer look at the world and characters of Blade Runner and Detroit: Become Human. Through them, questions about what it truly means to be human are discussed. This is done with the help of philosophical ideas. In addition, these two works both present a different reality with the same basis; a world where technology gives way to a dystopian setting. Within this thesis, the possibilities of AI, the settings of both the movie and the game, as well as the emotional intelligence of their respective versions of AI are all analysed.
