Abstract

This thesis explores the epidemiology and pathomechanism of various neurodegenerative disease. The author speaks about the various neuronal death pathways and pathophysiologies found in different neurodegenerative disease. The thesishighlights the hallmarks and clinical manifestations of different neurodegenerative diseases in relation to implicated neuronal death pathways. As wellas the targets of different neuronal pathways that are used in current and potenetial therapies in symptomatic and disease modifying treatment of different diseases. And finally, the author touches on current trials for targeted therapies of which are symptomatic or disease modifying in nature.
