dc.description.abstractGLP-1 receptor agonists are highly effective in lowering blood sugar levels in type 2 diabetes without causing hypoglycemia and have demonstrated cardiovascular benefits, particularly for patients with ASCVD. Additionally, GLP-1 RAs promote weight loss and are used in anti-obesity treatments. Common side effects include gastrointestinal issues and a risk of gallbladder disease, with rare instances of pancreatitis. However, their high cost and limited accessibility remain significant barriers, underscoring the need to make these drugs more affordable and available.
