Prostate biopsy throughout the history considered as a safe diagnostic tool and a minimally invasive method to detect prostate cancer. Considering this in mind, not enough studies were conducted regarding the prostate biopsy's complications, especially the erectile dysfunction, ejaculatory problems and general well-being. The objective of this study is to evaluate those complications and their severity, by reviewing the most informative and updated literature. The general findings showed that temporary erectile dysfunction isn't a rare complication. Regarding ejaculatory problems, most men undergoing prostate biopsy who are able to ejaculate, will experience hematospermia, which may be associated with anxiety and impact on their sexual activity. Furthermore, the literature showed that there is at least some change in the quality of life in some patients. For those reasons, the patients should be adequately informed about those complications before prostate biopsy, since it can help the patient to cope better with them.
