This thesis contains the representations of Chinatown in New York, Manhattan. I was interested in Chinese people’s life in the white American society. I mostly used Árpád Pásztor and Károly Vértesi's travelogues during my research. Their books “Amerika Kanadától Panamáig” and “Körutazás Amerikában” clearly represent Chinese people's living conditions from a Hungarian viewpoint. I also made comparison between travelogues, that shows that the same place can be represented in many ways.hu_HU
