| dc.description.abstract | There are two main treatments for endometriosis, the surgical therapy and the pharmacological therapy, in this thesis we focused more on the pharmacological aspect of treatment. Drugs like NSAIDs are used for the pain relief while drugs like combined oral contraceptives, progestin, gonadotropin releasing hormone antagonist/agonist and danazol are used as hormonal therapies that would reduce the size of the lesion, none of these drugs are a cure for the disease but they only help reduce the symptoms and regress the size of the lesions. Surgical treatment is the only one that can lead to a cure, although it holds high rate for disease recurrence. Despite all the benefits of these therapies, noticeable adverse effects of their chronic use must always be taken into consideration. | hu_HU |
