The thesis focuses on the Viking Age in England and Ireland. Firstly, it provides a brief history about Scandinavia and its peoples. Further, the thesis talks about Scandinavian society through family, politics, society and religion. Moreover, it gives reasons for the commencement of the Viking conquest, lists the sources that provide knowledge of that age and examines the origin of the word 'Viking'. In the last part, England and Ireland is separately discussed during the Viking Age. This includes the major events, battles and the decisions of both the Vikings and the Anglo-Saxons/Irish.hu_HU
