This paper examines national differences and gender differences between current leader characteristics and ideal leader characteristics among colleges and universities. I compared respondents' perceptions of ideal leadership traits with those of current leaders. Country differences and gender differences were analyzed separately, but due to time and sample constraints, if I could go further, I would conduct the study for specific types of universities in China and Japan, and expand my sample size to make the results more accurate.
