dc.description.abstractAntiepileptic drugs are prescribed for patients suffering from seizure disorders as the main approach of therapy. Nevertheless, approximately 70% of epileptic patients will achieve the desired effect with the total remission of convulsions while the remaining one third is attributed to intractable epilepsy defined by the failure to completely respond to first line monotherapy. The demand to control patients with refractory seizures has triggered the substantial need to develop new antiepileptic medications with unique mechanisms of action.hu_HU
