Pharmacological management of Parkinson's disease
Absztrakt
Parkinson's disease is one of the most common neurodegenerative diseases. It involves the depletion of dopaminergic neurons in the substantia nigra pars compacta, thereby resulting in Parkinsonism which is characterized by rigidity, tremor, bradykinesia, and postural instability. Parkinson's disease currently has neither a cure nor a therapy of disease-modifying effect. This thesis reviews the current treatment options and guidelines available for Parkinson's disease management, while also discussing potential and experimental therapies.
