This thesis examines the portrayal of disabilities in literature. Through analysis and comparison of Mark Haddon's The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime and William Faulkner's The Sound and the Fury, this study delves into the narrative techniques and writing styles employed by authors in disability literature. It also examines the way authors experiment with time and memory in novels and how they sequence these memories in accordance with the disabilities. This study also highlights the literary complexities of choosing a disabled narrator and the doubts about the credibility of such a narrator. By exploring societal attitudes, relationships, and treatment of individuals in literature, this thesis aims to promote awareness about stereotypes and prejudices against disabled people.
