In this paper, my aim is to provide insights into Assassin’s Creed III, the way it captures and reflects on history, more precisely, the American Revolution, and what some differences between the accepted versions of American history and the history that is told in the game are. Meanwhile, I also address how the game filled in the gray areas of American past to make sense for both the game’s individual story and history, and how the game captures ideals and colonial society from a 21st-century viewpoint. My main point is that Assassin’s Creed III represents history rather accurately and offers new interpretations included in the gray areas of history, while also providing criticism and admiration.
