dc.description.abstractRomeo and Juliet has been adapted numerous times for stage, film, musical and opera as well. In my thesis I would like to deal with some of these adaptations such as West Side Story, Shakespeare in Love and Romeo and Juliet, the Hungarian version of the musical and of course, I would like to deal with the original Shakespearean story. I want to examine them in chronology and I would like to answer, if it is possible, why these adaptations were written or made, what their aims were, and what the secret of the original story is, why it is so popular today, why Romeo and Juliet the ones, who represent the true, passionate love, however, they were very young and maybe in our society we would not take them serious.hu_HU
