Antibiotics Treatment in Intraocular Infection

Abstract

Generally, broad-spectrum antibiotics are chosen to be the initial treatment to administer at the appropriate site of infection as soon as a diagnosis is made to prevent from any delay in treatment. Once the results of cultures and the antibiotics susceptibility patterns are reported, antibiotic therapy can be modified accordingly. Finally, eradication of pathogens, control of intraocular inflammation before the destructive damage, and protection at cellular level are the core principles to achieve good prognosis in intraocular infections.
