The effects of furrow irrigation method (conventional furrow with cut-back dyke furrow and alternate furrow) and planting positions (ridge top and ridge side) randomized design. The study was carried out at Kadawa Irrigation Research Farm Kano in Sudannah vegetation zone of Nigeria. Analyses of the result showed that

  1. Dyke furrow irrigation method increase, significantly, the yield by 43.2%) of tomato
crop and gives highest FWUE compared to conventional furrow cut-back irrigation by
and alternate furrow irrigation method by (22.16%) in that order.

  2. There were significant increase in the yield and higher FWUE observed for UC82B tomato
     in ridge top (17 t/ha, 51%) compared to ridge side. (17 t/ha, 49%).

  3. Biggest fruit size (6.5 cm) were obtained when tomato seeding were transplanted on the

top and watered by dyke furrow method, This followed by planting on the ridge side top and ridge watered by conventional furrow with cut-back (6.16 cm). The smallest sizes (4.4 cm) were obtained when transplanting was at ridge top and watering by alternate furrow irrigation.
