In my thesis, my aim is to analyze the double oppression and the experiences of slave women through the slave narrative of Harriet Jacobs. She was a former slave in North Carolina and she recorded her life in her autobiography, Incidents in the Life of a Slave Girl. My aim is to explore the effects of the physical, sexual and psychological abuse on Harriet Jacobs’ life, and through her narrative, I wish to deal with the question of double oppression of African American slave women, and present how they were treated, physically abused and sexually exploited during the time of slavery in America.hu_HU
