Current treatment of multiloculated hydrocephalus
Absztrakt
Hydrocephalus occurs due to increased cerebral spinal fluid within the ventricular system of the brain. Multiloculated hydrocephalus is a progressive disease that has a septa formation within the ventricles and occurs mostly in premature infants. The cysts can be in communication with each other or isolated. Endoscopic procedures are most commonly used during surgical interventions and shunts can be placed. There is poor prognosis with developmental and cognitive deficits in these children.
