This thesis discusses the representation of female heroism in Fantasy and Young Adult Fiction. I take a look at the history of women in fantasy and how they were excluded and misrepresented in the fantasy genre. I use Holly Black's The Folk of The Air series as a case study of the contemporary attitude and representations of female heroes.
