In this thesis we discuss the pharmacological treatments of endometriosis, a brief description of the anatomy of the endometrium if given, with the pathophysiology, classification, symptoms and diagnosis of endometriosis also being discussed. Drugs discussed in this paper include NSAIDs, aromatase inhibitors, gonadotropin releasing hormones agonists and antagonists, danazol, levonorgestrel containing intra uterine system and progesterone containing contraceptives. some newer therapies such as peroxisome proliferator activated receptor gamma ligands, TNF alpha blockers, statins, anti-angiogenic factors and pentoxifylline are also discussed.
