Pharmacological Treatment in Neuropathic Pain Management
Absztrakt
Neuropathic pain is a pain condition, usually chronic, in which an abnormal neural activity arises secondary to an injury, disease or some kind of dysfunction of the nervous system. Often neuropathic pain has complex symptoms – for instance, burning pain, tingling and numbness – and it is difficult to treat due to individual needs. Quality of life is severly reduced with chronic pain. A stepwise management approach, using types of antidepressants, anticonvulsants, opioids and other trialed drugs, can be used for neuropathic pain therapy. If pharmacological treatment is not enough or has no efficacy, it is possible to try nonpharmacological management or some interventional modalites.
