Effects of nitrate and phosphate deprivation on the growth of the green alga Dunalliela salina
Absztrakt
The aim of this study was to test two Dunalliela strains, and see whether or not a nutrient strain can be caused by depriving the alga of nitrate and phosphate. This was done to observe the growth of the cultures, carotenoid production, and cyst formation under such conditions. Experiments were carried out in 14 days for the cultures, where a control was present for both strains as well as nitrate and phosphate deprived cultures. The results were quite interesting and definitely opened up new speculations regarding the two Dunalliela strains.
