dc.description.abstractAfter the Romanian occupation of Transylvania and Cluj-Napoca, the Romanian authorities forcibly occupied the buildings of the University of Ferenc József and deprived the professors of their jobs. The deported teachers continued their teaching work in Budapest, and then under the leadership of the Mayor of Szeged, Szilveszter Somogyi, a wide-ranging campaign was launched to temporarily move the exiled university to Szeged. New Year’s Eve in Somogy removed all obstacles to the university’s location in Szeged, and in 1921 the city became the university's headquarters. For this reason, at the ceremonial meeting of the university on June 29, 1922, he was inaugurated as an honorary doctor of political science.en
dc.description.abstractA Erdély és Kolozsvár román megszállása után a román hatóságok erőszakkal elfoglalták a kolozsvári egyetem épületeit és a professzorokat megfosztották állásuktól. A kitoloncolt tanárok Budapesten folytatták oktatói munkájukat, majd Somogyi Szilveszter Szeged polgármestere vezetésével széleskörű akció indult a száműzött egyetem ideiglenesen Szegedre kerülése érdekében. Somogyi Szilveszter az egyetem szegedi elhelyezése előtt álló minden akadályt elhárított, és neki köszönhetően lett a város 1921-ben egyetemi székhely. Mindezért az egyetem 1922. június 29-i ünnepi ülésén az államtudományok tiszteletbeli doktorává avatta.hu
