dc.description.abstractThis thesis examines how people who go for early physical activity approaches can prevent cardiovascular diseases in young adults and potentially reduce long term healthcare costs. Its main aim is to test whether personalized risk profiling, patient education and economic framing can together improve knowledge, motivation and adherence to exercise for CVD prevention. The methods used was a cross sectional, questionnaire based study in a mostly young, urban, relatively well educated population to assess risk factors, awareness, exercise behavior. The results showed that many participants already had CVD risk factors but did not fully appreciate their personal risk, time, motivation and cost were common barriers to regular exercise. However they were more willing to make a change with more personalized advice and guidance.
