My thesis explores new approaches and targets regarding Schizophrenia treatment, albeit none are completely approved. Such targets include phosphodiesterase 10A, α7 Nicotinic Receptors, Histamine 3 Receptors, 5-HT6 Receptors, and the cholinergic system. The reason for this extensive research is partially due to the ineffectiveness of current antipsychotics, as well as their atrocious side effects. With further and additional research work put through, the treatment of Schizophrenia might be reawakened.
