The human eye allows us to see and also reflects psychological, emotional, and physical conditions. Eye gaze information is neglected in the past research of emotion recognition, which has been proved by psychologists to be an important factor during emotion recognition. Eye contact plays an important role in human- interactions. The activities and behavior of the eye are affected by the size of the pupil or eye movement or direction of the gaze. Through literature investigation, it was clear that the characteristics extracted from the eye area were among the most common and most popular techniques of emotion recognition, providing us with objective, comprehensive and reliable information about the person's emotional state. The purpose of this thesis is to track the gaze for distinguishing emotions by the direction of the gaze with the help of other parts of the face. To achieve this goal, the eyesight detector was developed and constructed and tested for analysis of sections that were photographed by volunteers who were assigned a specific gaze task. Taking into consideration both distance and lighting is different to check the accuracy of the technique as well as to obtain and find the best and most important parameters that will be used later. Besides, the accuracy of the method was checked separately for each eye gaze direction in eight different directions. From the analysis, it can be reported that accurate contactless measurement of gaze tracking in a 2-dimensional color video is possible in real-life conditions.
