Family rights of disabled person: International and Pakistani law
Absztrakt
People having disabilities have always been an integral part of every society. Pakistani and international law has provided them with several relaxations/ exemptions and support to empower them in the community. It is already very difficult for many among us to live and to sustain our families and ourselves. It is very sad to know that a wide segment of society thinks of disabled persons as a curse of God on the family or the disabled one. There are very limited opportunities for disabled persons regarding career making and future planning and this is a big hurdle in their uplifting in society. The UN Convention on Rights of Persons has given guidelines for the welfare and well-being of differently-abled. The Convention demands equal opportunities for basic human rights for all. In the light of the Convention, equal opportunities of employment, education, health, and shelter should be provided to differently-abled, and all government departments should have clear instructions as well as policies in this regard. The government should introduce a mechanism for the implementation of legislation made in this sense. There should be a national and international policy that differently abled and bodily abled should be treated equally at their workplace. There should be no discrimination between them.
