Travel and Self-Development in Mark Twain's The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn and Jack Kerouac's On the Road

Abstract

The travels in Kerouac's On the Road and on the Mississippi river in Twain's novel, The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, are not only physical but also spiritual journeys since the protagonists in them reach a higher degree of consciousness and develop a deeper level of self-knowledge.
