dc.description.abstractLiterature does not state a "gold standard" mean for therapy for the optic pathway gliomas, hence our research in this topic. In this thesis we aimed to find the optimal means of treatment for these peadiatric tumours. To do so we compared and contrasted the outcomes of surgeries – of 22 patients who were operated on at the University of Debrecen, Department of Neurosurgery – with those stated in literature regarding chemotherapy. We set the significance threshold at p<0.05. As a result of our study, we found that both improvement and worsening of patients' condition occurred at a higher rate with chemotherapy, while a higher number of patients' condition remained unchanged after surgical resection.
