Absztrakt

Breast cancer is the most common cause of cancer in women. It possesses the highest incidence amongst cancers in women worldwide, accounting for approximately 25.4% of all cancers in women, from the total number of cases diagnosed. Early detection and diagnosis of breast cancer still remains one of the best approaches to the prevention of this disease. Due to the discovery of specific predictive and prognostic biomarkers, the therapy of breast cancer has been significantly promoted over the years. The pharmacological management of this biologically heterogeneous disease employs a well-tailored therapeutic approach. This encompasses hormonal therapy, cytotoxic chemotherapy, targeted therapy and immunotherapy. These therapies are directed towards the molecular, cellular and biological aspects surrounding the growth, spread and survival of the tumour.
