Improving Operational Efficiency and Cost Reduction through the Integration of Lean and Layout Optimization Strategies

Abstract

This research paper presents a new method for improving efficiency and reducing costs in manufacturing through the integration of two approaches – lean manufacturing and layout Optimization. The case focused on was Mitor Kft, a company operating in the metal parts industry. The purpose was to create a digital model of the manufacturing layout that could be optimized to eliminate waste and improve the flow of processes. The research objectives included the analysis of Mitor Kft’s existing manufacturing practices, the development of the combined lean manufacturing and layout optimization method, and an evaluation of its potential impact. This study should be useful to manufacturing companies struggling with inefficiency and high production costs, as it could serve as a roadmap for the implementation of an effective strategy. It is limited to the manufacturing industry and cannot be applied to other types of organizations or enterprises operating in markedly different conditions or industries.
